What is the NaNoWriMo Boot Camp?

Boost your chances of winning by 300%

78% of our authors completed the challenge in 2020.

Every year in November, writers across the globe band together in a triumphant display of swords, shields, and pens to take on the National Novel Writing Month Challenge (NaNoWriMo). The challenge: to write 50,000 words in just 30 days.

The challenge is daunting. It’s difficult. It’s gruelling. (Why else would it be considered a challenge)? Since the challenge’s birth, over 4,000,000 attempts have been made, and less than 20% have reached completion.

That’s where Boot Camp comes in.

Smart writers don’t tackle this challenge alone. Winning writers find their tribe. The NaNoWriMo Boot Camp is a program that has been developed by international bestselling author of over 40 books, Daniel Willcocks, with the sole premise of giving authors their best chance of crossing the finish line and bathing in the blood of their fallen words.

So, how about it, eh? That novel idea you’ve had buried in your head… That book that’s been collecting dust in your bottom drawer… That story that just won’t let it go…

Why not unleash the beast, and get it done? After all, what’s 30 days in the timeline of your dreams?

At the end of the 30 days I had my book. I won NaNoWriMo. I had new friends to share that celebration with and I’m still reaping the benefits of that bootcamp.

Frequently asked questions

Most frequent questions and answers

Do I have to attend every session?

No, you don’t have to attend every session. No points will be taken from Gryffindor if an emergency pops up and you can’t make it.

What is your GDPR policy?

For full details of our GDPR policy, click here.

How do the live sprints work?

All sprints will take place using the Zoom.US service. Accounts are free to create, and you will be sent a link ahead of the session to jump into the conference. Simply download the software, and then click the link once you have received it.

What if I’m not in a GMT timezone?

Not a problem. Zoom is an international service and you can join from anywhere around the world. You can find the time conversion of your chosen timezone at https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ .

Are the sessions recorded?

The majority of sessions will not be recorded, however some sessions may be recorded for future marketing purposes. You will have the chance to consent or decline this ahead of any recordings being taken, should you wish to remain anonymous.

Do I have to show my face on Zoom?

While there is no rule in place that you have to have a camera activated and show your face on the Zoom sprints, many will find that they are more accountable to writing words if they are visible. If you are not comfortable with this, then simply turn your camera off and be present for the sessions. You don’t have to have it on.

Do I have to write in the sprints?

No. You can work on whatever part of your author career you like. However, it is strongly advised that in order to complete the NaNoWriMo challenge you use this time to concentrate on focused word creation.

What is your refund policy?

You can get a full refund up until October 31st. No refunds will be available after that date due to the limited capacity of the Boot Camp service and the difficulty at that point of filling your vacant seat.
